Why 404020 exists.
Most recruitment challenges aren't recruitment problems. They're the visible symptom of something deeper : a workforce strategy that hasn't kept pace with the business, a talent leader who was promoted without the right support, a process built for speed rather than quality, or a technology stack that was implemented without the discipline to make it work.
404020 was founded to address that gap. Not to place candidates, not to run a search, but to work alongside business leaders and internal talent teams to understand what's actually driving underperformance , and build the capability to fix it from the inside.
The name reflects the work. It's about the balance between what's already in place, what needs to change, and what needs to be built from scratch. Every engagement starts with honest diagnosis and ends with something the team can own long after we've stepped back.

Nikki founded 404020 after more than a decade working inside and alongside some of Australia's most complex talent environments, building recruitment functions, leading internal teams, and advising business leaders on the workforce challenges that matter most.
Her background spans recruitment leadership, strategic sourcing, talent operations and technology optimisation. She has worked across industries and organisation sizes, from scaling start-ups to large enterprise environments, and understands the pressures that internal talent teams face from the inside.
What sets Nikki's approach apart is the combination of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. She doesn't just diagnose, she works alongside teams to design and implement practical solutions that stick. Her focus is always on building the skills, systems and confidence that allow teams to perform without ongoing external support.
Nikki is particularly passionate about mentoring and developing talent leaders, people who have been promoted into leadership roles and are navigating the shift from practitioner to strategist. She brings a direct, empathetic and experienced perspective to that work.
